p.r.

bragging a little here. i just got back from a 12.5 mile run today. this is a personal record for me and i am a little proud of myself. i've been wanting to run a half marathon for about a year or so now and this morning i told my husband i was running as far as i could today and it was going to be at least 10 miles. i only stopped a couple times, once after running a hill and i ran/half walked the last mile.

a few reasons i am a little prideful:

  • the furthest i have ever run was about 9 miles and that was over a year ago.
  • i never used to be a distance runner and never really was naturally growing up. i did track in jr. high and high school, but never distance only sprints.
  • i haven't really been running too much lately.
  • the temperature was nice and toasty at around 84 degrees when i got back. i was dying for water the last 3 miles.

so today i ran just shy of a half marathon just to prove to myself that i could do it. why? ah, stubbornness i guess... my finish time is another story... 2:28, which is not great. but it wasn't about the speed, it was about the distance! just goes to show that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything. ok, i'm done bragging. i'm pretty sure my body is not going to agree with this spur of the moment decision i made tomorrow... so if you see me hobbling around, please don't laugh too hard.

Umm... Okay, that's it. I am not running that half marathon with you. :) I was thinking about *training* over the next few months. You, obviously, are already ready. My inspiration (and intimidation) as always. Love ya!

I ran a half marathon back in the day but I "trained" for it...wierd concept huh? Way to go though...I have always wondered what would happen if you just went for it without all the preparation. Maybe you can be my inspiration to get back in shape after our baby girl arrives! Come see us if you have any free time!! XOXOXO

Ok, I'm thinking that you should win FG8 just for THAT! There is absolutely NO WAY I could ever do that on the spur of the moment. You are AMAZING!!!
