jeff was in ohio for an entire month for his surgery rotation (which was way too long), after spring semester ended i had some visitors while jeff was gone, jeff completed his last official rotation of his 3rd year of medical school, i went home for my baby sister's high school graduation and since then i haven't done much but simply been enjoying my very layed back and not so busy schedule. wish i could say the same for jeff. bet you can't guess what a medical student has been doing with his break? ....studying.... he has about a week and 1/2 left to study for step 2 of the boards and he seriously amazes me with his dedication.
first let me just say that one month is way too long! i think i can handle two weeks at a time, but one month just wasn't fun by myself so it was good that i was so busy with school the majority of that month and it was also nice to have some visitors for part of that time. the day after jeff came home we celebrated by going to an end of 3rd year party at our friend sean and siri's. i can't believe how fast our time in arizona has gone! the boys only have one more year to go and then it's on to our next adventure for residency. it was great to see everyone all together and we need to have get togethers more often before it is the end of 4th year! it seriously seems like we just moved here and started first year. crazy!
playing rock band
jill and i are one of the few who don't have kids. maybe because we still act like we are kids...
jill has definitely become one of my very best friends in arizona. she and i are a lot alike and just always have so much fun together! i can't imagine our school experience without her. :)
4th year here we come!!
after spring semester ended i was so lucky to have my best friend kat come spend a weekend with me. a couple days after she arrived, my sister and her boyfriend arrived and spent a couple days with us as well. it was such a fun weekend! my only regret is not taking more pictures... i didn't get any with my sister. :( some day i'll get better at remembering.
kat and i had some quality girl time and it was a blast! she was too nice and treated me to my first pedicure, which was heaven and wish i had gotten a picture of. we also went on a hike, out to eat at on the border and had some frozen yogurt at ju ju berry. my favorite part of her visit, however, was re-enacting all of our jr. high cheers, laughing at ourselves, the pedis of course, laying out by the lovely pool, and laughing some more. we can laugh and talk for hours about nothing and be happy as can be! ah, good times! i love her. thanks for coming, kat! come back!
view from the top of the hike.
getting ready to shop our little hearts out at fashion square! ok, maybe just window shop. :) but it's still fun!
we also did a few fun things with my sister and her boyfriend. we went to the wonderful fashion square, the delectable sprinkles cupcakes, in-n-out burger, the pool again, watched movies and went to church. it was so much fun to have them and just enjoy having a break! it was a short, quick visit but so much fun! i was happy it was before fg8 started. :)
a few weeks ago i was fortunate enough to go home for my baby sister shelby's high school graduation. it was weird to see her graduate and kind of an emotional day since she is the baby of the skeen girls. i was so happy i was able to be there! i have missed out a lot on her high school years living in arizona and that has been one of the hardest things for me. i hate thinking about all of the dances i missed seeing her get ready for and go to and all of the games i missed seeing her cheer at. shelby is the beauty and the sweetheart in the family. she is the center of attention on our magnet board and jeff always jokes that we need a few more pictures of chubbs. :) i was sad that jeff and my oldest sister, erin couldn't physically be there to enjoy the day with us but erin was able to watch it live online. so she was there in spirit. :) we enjoyed a nice dinner at the lion's den afterward. congrats again chubbs! good luck at utah state! we love you!
one of her laughing. it was hilariously cute! she kept covering her mouth and acting all girly!
we went to the mall for a minute and she and i walked around trying on fun stuff while my mom was in another store returning something.
last set of pictures, i promise. i know, you'd think she was my child! :) this is of her playing ball at my mom's. she really was good and actually hit the ball quite a few times! she's a natural!
this is my sister, shelby, getting ready to walk at graduation. go shelby!
after graduation.
after we had already taken all of our pictures (of course), we realized that our faces were shadowed and that maybe we should stand facing the sun to prevent this... so we took a few more.
this is her "friend". i don't know if i'm allowed to call him her bo, but they sure do spend a lot of time together. and we like him, he's a nice guy!
while home, i was also able to attend my future sister in law's bridal shower. it was such a great shower and fun to see so many family and friends. jeff's brother and his fiance alyssa are getting married the end of july. i'm so excited for them and can't wait to have another wedding in the family. i love weddings! alyssa played the same game that i played at my shower when i was engaged to jeff, so it was a lot of fun. my brother in law jason was filmed before the shower answering questions about each other and their relationship, etc. alyssa had to answer the questions and if she gave the same answer jason did, then she got a prize like a cooking utensil. it was cute. thanks again, brenda and amy for throwing it while i was there!
and my cute nephew, carson. our entertainment! he was getting himself all wet!
before i left, some of my best friends and i were able to get together at old grist. a couple of us missed a baby shower for missy just the week before, so some cute baby presents were opened and we had fun catching up. i have such great friends and it means so much to me when we can all get together. missy is darling pregnant and looks great! it was so much fun to see you girls!
haha! you probably wouldn't actually even notice this, but do you like lexi's new bow? she decided to wear the cute bow that missy got for her baby girl.
my dad and i also went for a nice little ride around north ogden. here we are wearing our "ball caps". anyone who knows my dad knows that he loves hats and one of his favorite lines while you're getting ready to go somewhere is to "just throw on a ball cap". growing up i always hated when he would say that because, heaven forbid, a teenage girl be seen wearing a ball cap. but now i love that line and i think wearing a ball cap is kind of fun and ok once in a while! especially while you're on a motorcycle. that hair is gonna get messed up either way, so i was actually grateful for a hat.
i'm sportin' the gcc (glendale community college) hat i gave him a year or so ago. i'm embarrassed to admit that it fell off twice while we were on the bike! but not to worry, i caught it both times. :) maybe next time i'll tighten it so it fits my tiny head. it was so much fun!
well folks, i commend you if you're still reading. i don't know what it is, but hopefully some day i will get better at posting more often.
peace.

Wow you have been busy! That is awesome that your husband is done with his third year! You and your sisters are all so beautiful! You all look so much alike! Oh, I have to tell you, I am SO impressed that you ran SO far! I wish I could even run one mile! So way to go! I hope I can do that one day! :)
Congrats to Jeff...I know how hard those boys work and I am sure he will do great on the upcoming boards. I love seeing pictures of you and your sisters. You all look so much alike and it always makes me smile thinking of my girls when they are all grown up. I hope they will be as close as you and your sisters are! Love ya!
Love the post! Oh and I feel your pain. I just left South Africa and will be away from my hubby for a MONTH too (because he's working in Mozambique so I didn't want to be alone the whole time) but when I go back, we have 10 days together and then he leaves again for 6 WEEKS! AH! I'm all alone there, no family, no job, in Africa....no bueno!!
Glad you had so many friends to come!
And disgusting. That's way too many miles to run. The most I've run is 4. And that was like 3 years ago. Again....no bueno:)
Holy busy!! I definitley don't miss Terry being in school! We were watching a rerun of ER and they were doing an ob exam, and Terry was like "do you know how many of those I had to watch during school?!" He doesn't miss it either! Hang in there; you guys will make it!
I'm so glad that you were able to come home for the shower and Shelby's graduation! It was so much fun to have you there! And funny that you say Shelby is the beauty in the family - you know that all four Skeen girls are drop dead georgous... but yes, she is beautiful, too. And I'm so glad you had some fun visitors while Jeff was gone. That month had to be so hard. And by the way, I didn't know there was an In-N-Out Burger by you guys. My Jeff will do anything to go to an In-N-Out. One more reason that we really need to come visit you guys this year!! We'll have to plan a trip when it's a good time for Jeffrey. Fun!
That so neat that your husband is already done with three years. It doesn't seem like you moved that long ago. And I really love your hair by the way! It looks so cute. I am trying to grow mine out and now I want it to look like yours. Glad your having a good summer and thanks for all your cute comments!
cute pics hil! and for the record, you look like a beauty queen even in a ball cap.
wow, great job catchin us all up, I feel like I was there. I missed Missy's shower too and need to get together with her, some friend I am! sheesh! You have such a cute family, all those girls, it must have been fun growin up!

I love long posts! I was wishing I was in AZ with you and Kat so so much, I miss you guys:( and lauging... a lot! If Dustin doesn't come while we are in Utah we might take a trip down to AZ. I'm thinking I definitely need to make this happen! Congrats to your hubby and chubs. I miss you and NEED some hill time!
dear hilly... i lOVe the catch up posts. you and i are on the same page, but yours is much more detailed (and better!) than mine!! #1: congrats on 3 years down... i too can't believe it's gone by so fast! sheesh! #2 i can't believe chubbs is old enough to graduate... where did the time go? congrats chubbs! and holy cow, all skeeners are absolutely beauties! i've been jealous my whole life! #3: what fun visitors and trips, i keep telling myself that i need to get down there... hmmm. lets get working on that! #4: congrats on running so far!! the farthest i think i've ever run is 2 miles or so. i'm not a runner, but wade has convinced me to do the wasatch back run next year, so i better get in gear! last but not least: i miss you. we need to spend time together. i'm glad to hear that life is well. keep updating soon. :) we know we're so good at that! :)
It was so fun to hear from you. It sounds like you have been busy but looks like tons of fun. Yeah for 4th year. It will fly by. Shirlyn Cox

I wanted to do the feel great in 8 thing with my friends, since my body is finally getting back to normal and I am pretty caught up on my sleep. Do you think you could email me the official rules so I could get this going? Thanks, trickyniki666@hotmail.com
