little things make me happy

first i must say that it is a lovely, pleasant day today. it is cloudy, a little windy and rained for a second this afternoon. some of you might consider this bad weather. well down here, days like this are few. so i'll gladly take it over the blasted 95 degrees we've been experiencing day in and day out for the past month or so. (and i shouldn't complain, it's usually hotter by this time of year. we've been lucky.)

i took a little bit of a new route today whilst running. i ran through a new neighborhood of houses that i've never seen before. and i noticed something different about this neighborhood. at first i couldn't figure it out. but for a moment, i felt like i was in a good ol' northern utah neighborhood, and not in the desert... well, kind of. after a moment, i figured it out... these houses had GRASS in their front yards. and it made me happy. some of you may be laughing at my little pleasure, but finding grass yards down here is a scarcity, and it's something i miss.

Ah the little things that we take for granted. I think it's funny when houses up here are like those down there with just the rocks in front of their house..I would miss the grass too. Props for running in 95 degrees! That would be reason enough for me to stay inside with some ice cream

And I bet it's nice to see mountains when you come home! We had a blast with you guys in AZ. We miss you! And I'm sorry you have to deal with the dry, hot heat out there! I can relate. When we lived there, it was the middle of the summer!

I agree that the weather was divine--and even better, we had a power outage at school that lasted two hours. They sent the children home and I enjoyed an afternoon run w/ some friends (we run laps and then do stadiums). If only the weather would last! :)

You don't have grass! I think I would die! There's nothing better then laying on a blanket whild reading a book in the shade. I would have to plant my own little square to keep in my bedroom. :)

Can i just tell you how many fun memories came back to me this weekend. Rob and I went up to my cabin, and remember our funny little dances we would do on the upstairs balcony? (where we would do the splits on top of the railings) Haha, good times! kinda random, but it just made me laugh and I wanted to share:)
