i hear sirens. and that's when the tornado alarm system goes off across the entire state as a practice run. i found out this fun little fact from the at&t guy installing my cable and internet on wednesday. i knew that wasn't a fire engine... welcome to arkansas.
i know i'm long over due for a post. but that's what happens when you go home for 5 weeks, have a graduation, a baby blessing, have packing to do, goodbye's to say, have a move across the country and are without internet for 2 weeks. we are alive and well, enjoying the southern hospitality, fire flies and trying to survive this awful heat and humidity (pretty sure it's worse than phoenix).
jeff is finishing his first week of orientation. his first rotation of residency, starting in july, will be in the ICU. looks like there won't be any easing into his first year or seeing much of my husband. i think he might be able to come to church once this next month. so i should have some time on my hands for all this catching up i need to do and it's needless to say that some posts are coming soon. and ya'll are welcome to come visit any time. :)
to my arizona friends:
i miss you. more than words can say. life isn't the same without you all and i'm trying to adjust to the fact that jeff and i won't be going through residency and our life experiences with you here in arkansas. i think about you often. hope all is well with you.
xoxo

can't wait for pictures, sounds like an adventure. i'm sure it will feel like home in no time!
miss you too. we are in the same world though! our sirens went off the other day and it WASN'T a test!! we've had 2 tornado warnings since i've been here, and the humidity is killing me. love the fireflies though. wish we lived closer. love ya
Moving across the country where you don't know anyone is easier said than done. Running was the only thing that saved me when we first moved to Arizona. You don't know anyone... your spouse is busy... it's nice to just get out and clear your head. I've started dragging Esley along with me. When we left the house today it was already 103. When I say dragging... i mean it.
I agree... the humidity is worse than anything Arizona can lash out. We miss you guys!
That would freak me out! We live by train tracks and when we first lived there I always heard the train, now though, I totally forget it goes by because I am so used to the sound...bet it will be like that to you someday too! hope you are well! loves!
Your experience so far has been EXACTLY like mine when we first moved to Missouri. It can be kinda depressing at first. Especially without the internet. Being alone all day with only a baby to talk to can totally make you crazy.
You'll get used to the sirens (it's a lot more scary when they're real).
Hopefully you have air conditioning at your house because it can be a life saver. I can't believe how hot and humid it has been this week!
If you need anything I'm pretty sure Little Rock is only 2 hours from here maybe 3 we could meet halfway of something. Let me know! Good luck!
I found out about earthquakes the same way, except for it wasn't a practice run. :) Thank goodness for friendly (usually a bit creepy) cable guys. Glad to hear you guys are safe and back in the swing of things!
Glad to hear you made it safely, hope all the traveling went well. Have fun getting settled into your new little home with your cute little family. I miss you already!! Make sure you keep updated on all of your happenings!!
Hilary! We are missing you and all the other Arizonans too.:( I am pretty sure the tornado sirens have been going off here too. Only I didn't hear them...hmm. I received my warning on the news chanel. Only it wasn't a false alarm. I'm sure Jeff told you. It was FREAKY. Kevin and I were huddled up downstairs listening to the radio updates to the storm. I pretty much saw the wicked witch of the west steal my screen door as I peered my head around the corner. Yeah, that was pretty scary business. Looks like you, Sarah and I are still haveing similar experiences, even if we aren't in Arizona to share them. :) I love you!
Growing up, every tuesday or wednesday the fire station would sound an alarm for practice and to remind the firefighters there was a meeting. You get used to it I promise! Post some pics of that cute baby!
Hil! So glad to get an update. We are definitely missing everyone too. It seems so different and lonely without everyone here. Sniff sniff!
I'm sorry about the horrible humidity. Wierd to think it's actually worse than here. :) Hope you and Sophie find lots of fun things to entertain you while Jeff is gone. Miss you guys!
oh hil, i hope you are getting settled and enjoying your new house! I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about everything you've been up to. it was so great to see you and sophie at breaksfast. she's adorable and you're a freaking hottie! no kidding. love ya girl and hope that you don't get too lonely with Jeff being gone so much. i'm sure you'll make lots of new friends. your sidebar is going to be full of new friends before you know it! :)
Oh my gosh, Minnesota does the same thing every Wednesday! I could not for the life of me figure out what the noise was until someone told me. I thought it was construction or something. Lol! It's scary when it goes off for real though, during a storm. Not good.
Moving is so hard! I'm sure you will have a great adventure there but I know how you feel!
**sniff** We will not talk about it. I hope you are adjusting and can't wait to see more updates soon. Repeat with me: We will make new friends. We will make new friends. We will make new friends.
hil! its good to hear you've made it safe and are slowly adjusting to the arkansas life... i can't imagine hearing the sirens all the time, and the realization that someday, they'll be for real. wow. what a woman. good luck to jeff in the icu. jump in with both feet right?!
its a relief to hear that the phoenix heat isn't all that bad... we're making arizona our new home as of july 19th... i'm super bummed that you're not there to be closer to. hopefully we can meet up when you come to visit.. :)
Hi Hilary,
It was so fun to meet you when we ran into you at the Layton Hills Mall. Moving is tough especially when you have such great friends as you did. I hope that you find equally as good of friends in Arkansas as in Arizona.
And fireflies are the coolest!
Oh how scary! I'd better stop complaining about my rain! We miss you guys, too. I hope this year flies by for all of us;) Good luck getting settled, can't wait to see more pix!!
summer is a rough time to move to arkansas! it's so stinkin' hot and humid that unless your in a body of water, you're melting! you just need to come over to mom's more often and swim and keep from melting!
